Seven quick questions reveal the colors your skin, hair and eyes were made for.
What a season is made of
Undertone is warm (golden, peachy) or cool (pink, blue). It splits spring and autumn from summer and winter, and it’s the reading people get wrong most, because a tan or a warm bulb moves it.
Depth is how light or dark your natural colouring is overall. A light summer and a deep winter can both be cool. Depth is what separates them.
Brightness is vivid against muted. Clear eyes and strong hair read bright. Flecked eyes and ashy hair read muted.
Contrast is the gap between hair, skin and eyes. Dark hair on pale skin is high. Blonde on fair is low. It’s why the same navy looks sharp on one person and heavy on another.
Know those four and you can dress yourself without the season name at all.

Four-season systems are the original and are blunt. Sixteen-season systems are more precise than the human eye can act on in a shop. Twelve is what most analysts use and what this quiz returns.
If you keep landing between two
Borderline results are normal, not a failure.
Soft summer or soft autumn. Both muted, both medium. Only undertone separates them. Hold olive green against dusty rose in daylight. Deep autumn or deep winter. Warm chocolate against pure black. If black looks like a hole where your face should be, you’re autumn. Light spring or light summer. Cream against pure white settles it faster than any question.
Stuck between two? Work from the four readings instead of the label. Both soft seasons should avoid bright colours near the face, and that instruction is worth more than the name.
Why quizzes disagree with each other
Lighting first. Warm bulbs push everyone warm, so any result you’ve had under a lamp is suspect.
Then self-assessment: judging your own vein colour is something trained analysts sometimes disagree on. Then systems, because a four-season quiz and a sixteen-season quiz won’t use the same word for the same face. Then dyed hair, since most quizzes ask about your current colour, which for a lot of people isn’t their colouring.
Photo tools carry one more problem. Phone cameras auto-correct white balance, which is exactly the information the analysis depends on. The image has already been adjusted before any model sees it.
Does your season change?
Undertone doesn’t. Depth and contrast do. Hair going grey lightens your depth and drops your contrast, which is why people who wore black comfortably for years start finding it heavy. Dyed hair changes what suits you without changing your season.
On deeper skin tones
The seasonal system was built and photographed on white faces, and most charts online still are. That’s a limitation of the material, not the method. The four readings work fine on deeper skin. What doesn’t is the vein test, so weight the jewellery and white t-shirt tests instead and skip question 2 if you couldn’t answer it. For anything more precise than this quiz, an analyst who works across skin tones and owns a proper drape set is worth the money.
